PRINCIPALS/ADMINISTRATORS:
- Kimo Marquardt is the principal of Oceanside High School, Oceanside Unified School District in San Diego County, and the
only Samoan high school principal in California.
- Sane Mataitusi is the principal of Riley Elementary School, San Bernadino Unified School District, and the only Samoan elementary
school principal in California.
- Victor Tompson was the first Samoan school administrator in California when he became the Assistant Principal at Lynwood
High School, Lynwood Unified School District in Los Angeles in 1988. He was at Lynwood from 1988-1993, assistant principal
at Leuzinger High School, Centinela Valley Union High School District, Los Angeles, 1993-1996, assistant principal, alternative
education, Irvine Unified School District, Orange County (the second in Orange County), 1996-1998, coordinator of student
services, Paramount Unified School District, 1998-2004 (first central office administrator), 2004-present, first county office
administrator, Los Angeles County Office of Education.
He was also the first Pacific Islander recognized by the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) when he was
named State Administrator of the Year in 2002. He is the only Pacific Islander serving in the ACSA State Leadership, where
he serve on the Student Services and Special Education Council and the Equity and Diversity Committee.
- Sale Ah You became the second Samoan school administrator in California when he was named assistant principal at Buena Park
High School, Fullerton Joint Union High School District in 1997, the first Samoan in Orange County. He is now a Counselor
in Utah.
- Tofa Polamalu-Gantt is coordinator, student services for the Val Verde School District in Perris, Riverside County, the
first in her county, and the first female in California.
- Robert Anae, Ph.D., Sociology
Received his doctorate from BYU - in Sociology and has just been named as the new offensive line coach at Texas Tech. University.
- Felix S. Wendt, Ph.D.
First Samoan to receive a doctorate from the Cornell University, Ithaca, NY - Agricultural Economics.
- Meripa Godinet, Ph.D.
First Samoan to receive a doctorate from the University of Washington, School of Social Work.
- Erika Fereti Puni, Ph.D
First SDA Samoan PhD. Graduated from Fuller Theological Seminary. After service at the North New Zealand Conference is now
a lecturer at the Avondale College (University), Australia.
